The Council of Advocates is a community of friends, champions, and connectors who believe in the mission of Brother Bill's Helping Hand and want to help expand its impact across Dallas-Fort Worth.
Brother Bill's Helping Hand has spent more than eight decades walking alongside neighbors in need, providing access to food, healthcare, educational opportunities, financial empowerment, and other wrap-around services that help families build stronger futures. As the need in our community continues to grow, so does the opportunity to engage more people in the work.
The Council of Advocates exists to help make those connections possible.
Members of the Council serve as ambassadors for the mission, helping introduce new friends to Brother Bill's Helping Hand, sharing stories of impact, opening doors to potential supporters and partners, and increasing awareness of the organization's work throughout the community.
This is not a governing board and does not carry the responsibilities typically associated with board service. Instead, the Council of Advocates provides a meaningful and manageable way for community leaders, professionals, and supporters to stay connected and engaged.
Council members serve a two-year renewable term and are asked to participate in two gatherings each year. These gatherings are designed to deepen understanding of the mission, celebrate impact, strengthen relationships, and explore opportunities to advance the work of Brother Bill's Helping Hand.
Members of the Council of Advocates will have opportunities to:
• Learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing families in our community
• Hear directly from neighbors, staff, volunteers, and partners whose lives have been impacted by the mission
• Connect with others who share a commitment to serving West Dallas and surrounding communities
• Introduce new individuals, organizations, and businesses to the work of Brother Bill's Helping Hand
• Help grow awareness and support for programs that strengthen families and create opportunity
The Council of Advocates is built on a simple belief: meaningful change happens when people use their relationships, influence, and resources to create opportunities for others.
