After School

Brother Bill’s Helping Hand provides a faith-based after school care that includes homework help, social-emotional learning (SEL) programs, programs associated with STEM and programs or classes that allow students to have well versed experiences. The After School Program serves children in Pre-Kindergarten – 3rd Grade between 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Our program expansion is designed to meet the needs of the families and children in West Dallas, by providing the best care and education to all children.

The After School Program is enhanced through sustained partnerships with other Dallas entities, including SMU’s Budd Center, The School Zone, and Social & Emotional Health Professional Learning Community (PLC); West Dallas STEM School Cohort; Dallas Afterschool; West Dallas Community School; and the West Dallas Community Coalition.

Our faith-based After School Program focuses on homework help, reading, SEL, STEM, physical activity and various experiences for students in grades Pre-K – 3rd. We use a hands-on approach to teaching and ensuring assistance to all types of learners. Students engage in critical thinking skills by participating in interactive learning models, and they get help with their homework from trained BBHH staff and volunteers. Students socialize with each other and form long-lasting friendships that enhance their development, growth, and self-confidence.

The After School Program is grounded in the principles of positive youth development and evidence-based social-emotional learning practices. These practices help foster the mentality, skills, and confidence within each child to behave well, make good decisions, and build healthy relationships. All of these skills are necessary for success in school and life. Our program weaves social-emotional learning throughout the program time.

BBHH After School Program Mission:

BBHH seeks to give each child the tools and skills needed to achieve academic success. We work to inspire, promote, and build positive self-worth within each student in our program.

To care holistically for each child, we also promote spiritual health by offering faith-based discipleship and teaching. Through Bible study and faith-based curriculum, after-school children will be encouraged to love God with their mind, body, and soul.
