Financial Catalyst Savings Program with Watermark Community Church

Despite the setbacks of COVID-19, in 2020 we launched one of our most exciting and impactful programs yet–a matched savings program called Financial Catalyst in partnership with Watermark Community Church Community Development Corporation (CDC)! Participants complete a 12-part Faith & Finances curriculum to be eligible for our Accelerated Savings Individual Development Account (ASIDA) Program. Individuals can access matching funds to go towards saving for a car, home, education, or business.

Our first ASIDA group has 14 stewards who have collectively saved over $13,000 to be matched generously by Watermark CDC, even during this trying year. This group meets virtually twice a month to offer accountability and support to help one another accomplish their savings goals. However, the impact of the group goes well beyond finances. Under the leadership of Watermark volunteers, these participants have learned about biblical community, discipleship, prayer, stewardship, and so much more. We are so excited about the fruit we have seen so far!

One participant, Dulce, a wife and mother of 3 boys, is working full-time and has been committed to saving monthly to buy her family a newer, safer car. She shares, “This program has taught me so much about stewardship and the discipline of saving. I have been able to set aside money from each paycheck for the first time ever. I am so thankful for this group that supports me and helps me accomplish my goals. My family and I are so thankful.” Thank you, Watermark CDC, for this impactful partnership!
